FDA Seizes 50 Food Samples from Ice Cream, Mango, Soft Drink, and Ice Vendors in Pune for Quality Testing

Pune, 18th June 2025: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pune Division, has intensified its inspection drive to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for citizens. As part of this initiative, officials have collected 50 food samples from 30 vendors, including those selling ice cream, soft drinks, mangoes, and ice, for laboratory analysis.
According to the S.G. Annapure, Joint Commissioner (Pune Division), Food and Drug Administration, the collected samples include 4 samples of drinking water, 29 samples of ice cream and kulfi, and 12 samples of mangoes. All mango samples have been found to meet safety standards. However, out of the 5 soft drink samples, one was found to meet the required standards, while two were declared substandard, prompting further penal action.
The reports of the ice cream and kulfi samples are still pending, and action will be taken accordingly once the lab results are received.
The FDA has reiterated its commitment to preventing food adulteration and ensuring safe food for all. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicions or complaints regarding adulterated food items.
