From WiFi, Escalators, Food Courts to Clean Toilets: Here’s What Passengers Can Expect at Amrit Bharat Stations

New Delhi, 23rd May 2025: In a major push to modernize the country’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, May 22, inaugurated 103 Amrit Bharat Railway Stations across 86 districts in 18 states. The ambitious project, with a total investment of ₹1,100 crore, aims to significantly enhance the travel experience for millions of daily commuters and long-distance passengers.

The initiative comes after the success of the Vande Bharat Express trains and is part of the Centre’s broader vision to upgrade Indian Railways with world-class facilities and sustainable technology.

What Facilities Will Be Available at Amrit Bharat Railway Stations?

According to official sources and media reports, the newly inaugurated stations have been designed with a focus on passenger comfort, safety, and technology integration. Key features include:
Air-conditioned waiting rooms, retiring rooms, and dedicated baby care rooms to cater to families and senior citizens.
Escalators and lifts for convenient access to platforms and station areas.
Digital infrastructure with LED display boards and information panels.
High-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, water ATMs, and modern food courts for enhanced convenience.
Green energy-based designs, ensuring environmental sustainability.
Clean and hygienic toilets, with an emphasis on sanitation.
Modernized ticketing systems to reduce queues and waiting times.
States Benefiting from the Amrit Bharat Station Upgrades
The stations have been launched in the following 18 states: Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, and Telangana, among others.
Uttar Pradesh leads the list with 19 stations, followed by:
Gujarat – 18 stations
Maharashtra – 15 stations
Tamil Nadu – 9 stations
Rajasthan – 8 stations
Madhya Pradesh – 6 stations
Karnataka and Chandigarh – 3 stations each
Jharkhand and Telangana – 3 stations each

This initiative is expected to elevate the standard of railway travel in India, particularly for passengers in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where upgraded facilities have long been awaited.
