Pune, 25th May 2025: In response to heavy flooding triggered by breaches in local water canals and rising river levels, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed two specialized teams to Pune and Solapur districts for flood rescue operations.

The deployment was initiated after an urgent request from the Pune District Collector, following severe waterlogging in Baramati and Indapur tehsils. Overflowing water from the Kara River in Baramati and the Neera River in Indapur caused widespread inundation of low-lying residential areas, raising alarms about possible casualties.

Initial reports indicated that seven people were trapped in Baramati and two in Indapur. Both NDRF teams, comprising trained divers and rescue personnel, were mobilized from the unit headquarters on the evening of 25 May. The teams were fully equipped with flood rescue gear, deep diving sets, and medical response kits.

Local authorities confirmed that all trapped individuals in Baramati and Indapur have since been safely rescued.

After completing operations in Indapur, the NDRF team is currently stationed at a guest house in Bhigwan. Meanwhile, the team deployed to Baramati has been redirected to Markad Vasti in Ekshiv, located approximately 28 kilometers away, in Solapur district. In that area, the Neera River has reportedly altered its course, trapping six people in their homes.

The Baramati team is en route to the site to carry out further rescue efforts.

The NDRF is maintaining continuous coordination with district administrations and reaffirmed its commitment to providing swift and effective disaster response.

Further updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
