Pune, 17th May 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country on May 22 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), including two stations from the Pune Division — Kedgaon and Lonand — both of which have completed infrastructure upgrades.
While the Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the stations at Deshnok, Bundi, Mandalgarh, and Gogameri in Rajasthan in person, the remaining stations, including those in the Pune Division, will be inaugurated virtually.
Kedgaon Station: Completed with Enhanced Passenger Facilities
Kedgaon station has been redeveloped at a cost of ₹12.55 crore. The upgrade includes improvements such as:
- Construction of a COP (cover over platform)
- New entrance gate and portico
- Upgraded circulating and parking areas
- Renovated platform surface (PF surface)
- New toilet block
- New booking office
- Additional seating arrangements
- Enhanced illumination
- Construction of a compound wall
Lonand Station: Infrastructure Renovation Completed
Lonand station has been upgraded at a project cost of ₹10.48 crore. Key developments include:
- COP and PF surface improvements
- New entrance hall and entry gate
- Construction of a new portico
- Compound wall and circulation area development
- Construction of a parking facility
- Renovation of the booking office and entrance lobby
- Construction of a waiting room on Platform 1
- Installation of seating and illumination facilities
About the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
The ABSS is a flagship initiative by Indian Railways aimed at transforming over 1,300 railway stations nationwide through phased development. The scheme emphasizes modern amenities, sustainability, improved accessibility, and integration with local culture. Stations under this initiative are being equipped with features such as upgraded waiting areas, clean toilets, escalators, lifts, free Wi-Fi, solar panels, and better connectivity with other transport modes.
The inauguration of these 103 stations marks a major milestone in the ongoing modernization efforts of Indian Railways.
