Pune: 11-Year-Old Boy Dies After Bike Hits Dumper in Kharadi, Driver Arrested

Kharadi, 19th May 2025: An 11-year-old schoolboy lost his life after being crushed under a dumper truck in Pune’s Kharadi area on Saturday. The incident occurred when the two-wheeler he was riding pillion on collided with the dumper. The Kharadi Police have arrested the dumper driver in connection with the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Anshuman Anupkumar Gaikwad (11), a resident of Keshavnagar, Mundhwa. The dumper driver, Rajaram Dayaram Rathod (48), a resident of Vadgaon Sheri, has been arrested. A complaint in the matter was filed by Tanmayi Anupkumar Rathod (23) at Kharadi Police Station.
According to police officials, Anshuman was on his way to tuition in the Kharadi area when the accident occurred. Tanmayi, who was riding the two-wheeler with Anshuman as the pillion, reportedly failed to notice a speed bump near the Zensar Company premises in Kharadi. In an attempt to brake suddenly, she lost control of the bike and collided with the dumper from behind.
As a result, Tanmayi sustained injuries, while Anshuman was thrown off and came under the wheels of the dumper, dying on the spot. The dumper driver, Rajaram Rathod, was taken into custody following the incident.
Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan of Kharadi Police Station confirmed the arrest and said further investigation is underway.
