Pune: 80 mm Rainfall in Hinjawadi, 93 mm in Chinchwad; IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms All Week

Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad, 20th May 2025: Heavy pre-monsoon showers lashed Pune and surrounding areas on Tuesday, leading to multiple incidents of tree falls, hoarding collapses, and waterlogging, though no injuries were reported.
The Pune Fire Brigade responded to 15 tree fall incidents in various localities including Yerwada, Koregaon Park, Dhanori, Tingrenagar, Erandwane, Devachi Uruli, Bavdhan, Mukundnagar, Kalepadal, Kaleborate Nagar, Hadapsar, and Fatimanagar. Additionally, a boundary wall collapsed at Teen Hatti Chowk in Dhankawadi, but no casualties occurred.
In separate incidents, hoardings collapsed in Wagholi and on Porwal Road in Lohgaon, raising concerns over structural safety amid seasonal winds.
Several areas in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad experienced waterlogging, disrupting normal life and traffic flow in low-lying zones. There was heavy waterlogging near Embassy Quadron Business Park in Hinjawadi IT Park.

Kahne phata, Talegaon = 29.4 mm

IMD Issues Weather Forecast Till May 26
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued unstable weather in the coming days. The forecast from May 21 to May 26 indicates:
- Partly cloudy skies turning generally cloudy by afternoon/evening
- Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h)
- Light to moderate rain likely across Pune
Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert, avoid parking vehicles under trees or old hoardings, and to report any hazardous situations to emergency services.
