Wakad, 23rd May 2025: One week after the tragic suicide of Vaishnavi Hagawane, allegedly driven by ongoing physical and mental harassment related to dowry and character defamation by her husband and in-laws, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar finally visited the grieving family in Wakad.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, particularly because former members of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP are allegedly involved. The deceased’s husband, Shashank Hagawane, now under arrest, and his father Rajendra Hagawane, a former member of the NCP, are central figures in the case.

Adding to public anger, Ajit Pawar was reportedly present at Vaishnavi and Shashank’s wedding. Despite the mounting pressure and calls for accountability, Pawar declined to address the media during his today’s visit. As he entered the residence, he simply waved at the press, choosing not to speak, a gesture that is drawing sharp criticism on social media and from the public.

Activists and citizens have slammed the delayed response and perceived insensitivity, accusing the leadership of being reactive rather than proactive. Meanwhile, the investigation into Vaishnavi’s death continues, with demands growing louder for an impartial probe and justice.
