Pune, 19th June 2025: In response to rising water levels due to continuous rainfall, authorities have significantly increased the discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha river basin. The outflow was raised from 1,920 cusecs to 8,734 cusecs at 7:00 PM on Thursday, according to an official update from the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division, Swargate.

The release, made via the dam’s spillway, is being closely monitored, and officials have warned that further changes may be made depending on rainfall intensity and reservoir conditions.

“The discharge may be reduced or increased again depending on the volume of rainfall and seasonal requirements,” said the Sub-Divisional Engineer overseeing the dam operations.

Authorities have urged people living along the Mutha river banks to remain alert and avoid entering low-lying areas, as water levels may continue to fluctuate over the next few hours.
