Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Chain Project Records 6.20 TMC Storage, Slightly Higher Than Last Year

Khadakwasla, 24 May 2025: The total water storage in the Khadakwasla Dam Chain Project, which supplies drinking water to Pune city, currently stands at 6.20 TMC (thousand million cubic feet), according to the latest update from the Water Resources Department.
The project comprises four major reservoirs — Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet, and Khadakwasla. Of these, Varasgaon holds the highest storage at 2.86 TMC, followed by Panshet at 1.97 TMC, Khadakwasla at 0.88 TMC, and Temghar at 0.30 TMC.
Light rainfall has been recorded in the catchment areas of these dams over the past two days. Temghar received the highest rainfall at 23 mm, followed by Khadakwasla with 16 mm, Panshet with 15 mm, and Varasgaon with 12 mm.
While the recent showers have provided some relief, officials noted that the rainfall has not significantly increased the water levels. However, the current cumulative storage is slightly higher than this time last year, when it stood at 6.14 TMC.
