Pimpri-Chinchwad, 1st June 2025: In a citizen-centric move to address the recurring problem of potholes during the monsoon season, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a dedicated Pothole Management App. The digital platform is designed to streamline the process of reporting, tracking, and repairing potholes across the twin towns.

As part of its pre-monsoon road maintenance plan, PCMC has rolled out a comprehensive Pothole Management System. The app enables residents to report potholes by uploading a photograph and marking the location. Each complaint is automatically forwarded to the junior engineer of the respective ward and simultaneously made visible to senior officials for real-time monitoring.

To register a complaint, citizens need to log in to the app, enable location services, pinpoint the exact location on the map, and upload a clear image of the pothole. Users can also add optional details such as depth, width, and nearby landmarks. Once submitted, the app generates a unique complaint number for tracking.

Upon receipt, the complaint is assigned to the designated officer. If not resolved within a specified timeframe, reminder emails and SMS alerts are sent to senior officials. Cases outside the purview of ward-level engineers are redirected to the appropriate municipal department.

After repairs are completed, the complainant receives an email update along with a photograph of the completed work and a closure report. According to the architecture department, the initiative is aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in road maintenance operations.

“Our goal is to make city roads safer and smoother for all commuters by ensuring timely redressal of pothole-related complaints,” PCMC officials said. The civic body has also assured that measures are being taken to make roads pothole-free before the onset of heavy rainfall.

The app-based mechanism represents a step forward in citizen participation in urban governance, while also improving public service delivery through technology-driven solutions.
