Pune Police Seizes Opium Worth Rs 5.39 Lakh in Kondhwa

Kondhwa, 28th May 2025: Pune City Police have seized a significant quantity of opium valued at over Rs 5.39 lakh and arrested one individual in a crackdown led by the Anti-Narcotics Cell under the Crime Branch. The operation was conducted during routine patrols in the Kondhwa area.

Acting on intelligence and as part of their preventive drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Cell detained Arjun Sukhram Kala, a 31-year-old resident of Yewalewadi. From his possession, police confiscated a total of 256 grams and 58 milligrams of opium worth Rs 5,13,160, along with 1 kilogram and 728 grams of opium pods (poppy straw powder and doda chura), valued at Rs 25,920.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).

The action was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials of Pune, by the Anti-Narcotics Cell team led by Senior Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam, along with Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote, Police Sub-Inspector Digambar Kokate, and others.
