Pune Road Rage: Brother and Sister Brutally Assaulted Over Honking Dispute in Bhavani Peth

Bhavani Peth, 28th April 2025: A violent road rage incident erupted in Pune’s Bhavani Peth on Saturday, when a group brutally assaulted a brother and sister following an argument over honking in the Gurunanak Nagar area. The altercation left three family members injured, including the 28-year-old Karan Keswani, his brother Harsh, and their sister. The attackers struck the complainant on the head with a stone, causing serious injuries, and also abused and manhandled the siblings’ grandfather.

Khadak Police have arrested Shoaib Umar Sayyed (age 29, resident of Kasewadi, Bhavani Peth. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against his 5 to 6 accomplices.

According to officials, the incident began when Harsh Keswani was riding a two-wheeler through the locality and honked his horn, which allegedly angered Shoaib Sayyed. An argument broke out, during which Shoaib reportedly abused Harsh and slapped him. He then beat him so severely that Harsh’s clothes were torn.

Following the incident, Harsh returned with his grandfather, Bharat Keswani, and sister, Nikita Keswani, to demand an explanation from Shoaib. At that time, Shoaib and his associates blocked the road and hurled abuses at them. “Who are you to question us? If you can, try to stop us now—will kill your brother,” Shoaib reportedly said.

Shoaib then picked up a stone from the roadside and allegedly hurled it at Harsh’s head with the intent to kill. Even after Harsh started bleeding, Shoaib continued beating him. Soon, Shoaib’s associates joined in and began attacking both Harsh and his brother Karan, as well as throwing stones at them.

Nikita sustained injuries to her hand and leg due to the stone pelting. Shoaib also allegedly abused Bharat Keswani and threatened to burn down their house.

A police investigation is currently underway.

Senior Police Officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill, visited the scene and have launched an investigation.
