Pune, 10th June 2025: As the annual Ashadhi Wari approaches, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has announced a mandatory inspection drive for all heavy and support vehicles participating in the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi processions.

Vehicle owners have been urged to undergo a free pre-inspection and obtain a fitness certificate by 19th June, the day when the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will depart from Alandi for Pandharpur. The directive is aimed at ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of the massive religious procession, which draws lakhs of devotees and numerous support vehicles such as goods carriers, tankers, and supply trucks.

In previous years, sudden vehicle breakdowns, mechanical failures, and road blockages have caused significant disruptions during the Wari. To prevent such issues, the Pune RTO has released a dedicated inspection schedule and outlined the testing process for all vehicles that will accompany the Palkhi.

Inspections will be carried out at two designated locations: the testing ground on Alandi Road and the automated testing track in Dive. Vehicle owners must present valid documents during inspection, including the registration certificate, tax certificate, insurance papers, pollution control certificate, fitness certificate, and the driver’s license. Only after successful verification of these documents will a special clearance certificate be issued, with entries made in a dedicated registration ledger.

The transport authority has emphasized that this initiative is essential to minimize the risk of accidents and traffic jams during the pilgrimage and to ensure that the tradition continues safely and efficiently.
