Pune: Speeding Car Kills Pedestrian in Wakad, Driver Absconds

Wakad, 13th May 2025: A 31-year-old pedestrian, Balveer Harisingh Gurjar, lost his life after being struck by a speeding car while crossing the road at Dange Chowk in near Wakad on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM when Gurjar, a resident originally from Madhya Pradesh, was returning home from work.
According to the police, the car, bearing registration number MH 14 GN 4001, hit Gurjar with significant force, leaving him critically injured. The driver fled the scene without informing authorities or assisting the victim, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after the collision.
Balveer’s brother, Narendrasinh Harisingh Gurjar, has filed a formal complaint at the Wakad Police Station, leading to a case being registered against the unidentified driver. Police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding accused and have invoked relevant sections of the law for causing death due to negligent driving and failing to render aid to the victim.
