Quick-Thinking Pune Police Constable Rescues Youth from River
Uttamnagar, 20th June 2025: In a courageous act that demonstrated quick thinking and dedication to duty, Police Constable Dhananjay Bitle of the Khadakwasla outpost, under Uttamnagar Police Station, rescued a young man who had jumped into the river from the Shivane-Nanded Bridge on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place around 7:30 PM while Constable Bitle was on routine patrol. Upon witnessing the youth suddenly leap into the river, Bitle immediately rushed to the scene. Despite the strong current and the risk involved, he did not hesitate to act.
Using a sack found nearby as an improvised flotation device, Bitle managed to reach the struggling youth and safely pull him out of the water, preventing a potential tragedy.
His prompt action, presence of mind, and bravery have earned widespread appreciation from both senior officials and members of the public.
